What's New at LouFest 2017

What's New at LouFest 2017

In St. Louis, LouFest might as well be a citywide holiday weekend. Aside from pulling in world renowned bands, the festival has become a microcosm of the city itself, featuring local musicians, chefs, artists, and more—all in glorious Forest Park.

This year, Olio City has partnered with LouFest to showcase the best of the festival: get to know your favorite artists better, discover the next big thing, and keep track of all the new LouFest experiences (which you can read about below!), all through a handy digital guide.

What we’re trying to say is that Olio City is your mobile destination for all things LouFest.

And, because we like you so much, anyone who downloads the Olio City app (available on iOS and Android) is eligible to win free tickets to this year’s festival!

Call your friends, book a babysitter (or not—hooray LouKids!), and start planning your ultimate LouFest weekend with Olio City.

Hope to see you September 9th and 10th!

-Team Olio

What’s New at LouFest?

1. There’s a New Location!

We Repeat: NEW LOCATION! What is the one thing we can all agree that LouFest has been missing all these years? No, not a fountain that pours free, ice cold beer. SHADE! LouFest is moving to the upper Muny Grounds (adjacent to the Muny Amphitheater) which means lots of trees, lots of shade, and no mud!

2. 1917 Cocktail Party

Festivals normally mean you are resigning yourself for a day of beer drinking (which St. Louis is the perfect place for, really). This year LouFest is unveiling the 1917 Cocktail Party, paying homage to the first cocktail party in history 100 years ago—right here in St. Louis. Get the scoop on the prohibition-era cocktail menu in the coming weeks.

3. Hail! Hail! Chuck Berry Tribute

A celebration honoring the father of rock n’ roll will feature surprise musical guests and members of the Berry family playing his world famous hits like “Johnnie B. Goode” and “No Particular Place To Go”. Many more details to come, but a ticket to Saturday’s lineup would be key to enjoy the tribute (hint, hint).

4. LouFestU

If you’re lucky enough to be a carefree college student, the festival is unveiling a third night dedicated to you, university students. LouFestU takes place on Friday and is a free, student-only event. The St. Louis Regional Chamber sponsored evening will include local and national bands, plus guest speakers and presentations from some of the region's top corporations. Think of it like a TED talk meets concert festival—enjoy music and possibly meet your future employer! Just go easy on the booze. The lineup for LouFestU will be unveiled in the weeks to come.

5. Malibu Beach House

Everyone’s favorite beachside drink, Malibu, is brining a custom-built pop-up beach house that looks and feels like an actual house. The Beach House will feature a large viewing space and patio, frozen cocktails, a selfie station, flash tattoos, and more.

6. Hot Air Balloon

The iconic Forest Park Balloon Glow does LouFest. Aside from some killer photo ops, get the chance to experience LouFest from a different vantage point.

7. Tech Artista Installment

The burgeoning tech, art, and innovation industries will be represented with a nano-architecture exhibition, “Spirit of St. Louis,” that explores form, function, and fantasy—all designed and made by local artists.

Some of it isn't new, just bigger and better.

Like the ferris wheel—it’s bigger than ever! Same goes for updates to LouKidz, NoshPit, and Missouri Wine Trail. We can’t wait to tell you more about those later. Plus, there will be artist-themed cocktails from some of St. Louis’ best mixologists!
